This is another cheat, in several ways. First of all, The Last Shadow has been complete since 2019. And second, the cover art was delivered this past May. So is this really a proper reveal? Not really. But this site was still in its formative state back then, so now we can pretend that everything is happening chronologically, as things should happen. So I’m excited to debut amazing new(-ish) cover! Here’s the full wrap:
The cover concept features the two main characters in a mysterious setting that you’ll find all about in the book. It came to me quite early, and I wanted to find an artist whose work was darker than I’d sought previously, who could render something expressive and painterly. I’m sure you’ll agree that that describes Bastien Lecouffe Deharme’s work here perfectly. I think he really captured the tone of the story. Be sure to check out his amazing portfolio.
I plan to release The Last Shadow to the world—finally—in October 2020. And that title will be followed soon thereafter by The Broken Helix in November, and (fingers crossed) Songs from the Void in December.
If I accomplish all that, my backlog will be fully out there at last, and I’ll be able to concentrate on novel number six, which should debut sometime in 2021. That one will be a return to space opera, and I can’t wait to tell you more about it.
